Real Salt Lake is a part of the Western Conference in Major League Soccer and began playing in 2005 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. In 2008, the team moved its home games to Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their first major accomplishment came with winning the 2009 MLS Cup. Real Salt Lake were later runners-up in the 2013 MLS Cup, winners of the Supporters Shield in 2010 and won the 2013 U.S. Open Cup. Most notably, the team was the first American club to advance to the final stage of the CONCACAF Champions League, finishing as runners-up in the 2010-11 game.
