Situated in New Orleans’ bustling Central Business District, Smoothie King Center is the home of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans. Besides all of the team’s home games, the center has hosted events including NCAA basketball games, bull riding, MMA, wrestling, boxing and arena football. It’s also a popular destination for touring artists, with performances from the likes of Shania Twain, Rage Against the Machine, Bruno Mars and Mariah Carey.

Because it shares a campus with the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the center has plenty of parking options. There are seven garages and two lots nearby—but be sure to hit the ATM first, since most lots accept cash only. Tailgating is prohibited in Smoothie King Center lots and garages before all events. The nearby Union Passenger Terminal also connects fans to the center via various rail and bus networks, including NORTA. Backpacks and outside food and drinks should be left at home.

Fans can walk to downtown New Orleans’ numerous hotels and restaurants from the arena. It’s only a 15-minute drive from the culturally rich French Quarter, where visitors can dine on traditional Creole dishes at famous restaurants, pop into a jazz club for an evening of music or explore the many historic landmarks that pepper the neighborhood.
