Michael Che

Michael Che Campbell, known simply as Michael Che, is an American comedian, actor and writer. Che began performing stand-up comedy in 2009, working several sets a night. In 2012, he appeared on an episode of the Late Show with David Letterman, and shortly after was named winner of New York’s Funniest Stand-Up Competition. He joined the team on Saturday Night Live as a guest writer in 2013 and was quickly promoted to regular writer. It was at this point in his career that Che was recruited to make his on-screen debut as a Daily Show correspondent. Although he only appeared in nine segments, his work on the show was highly praised. Che took over as co-anchor alongside Colin Jost on the popular SNL segment Weekend Update in 2014, making him the first African-American co-anchor in the segment’s history. He was promoted to main cast shortly after and was named co-head writer for SNL in December 2017.
