This is the home field of the Central Michigan University Chippewas, who play in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The stadium has a capacity of 30,255 spectators, making it the largest on-campus stadium in the MAC. The stadium was opened in 1972 and was originally named Perry Shorts Stadium after a former university president. In 1983, it was renamed Kelly/Shorts Stadium to honor Kenneth Bill Kelly, a former football coach who led the Chippewas to four MAC titles and two bowl games.

In 2004, the field was named Kramer/Deromedi Field after Herb Deromedi and Roy Kramer, two former athletic directors who also coached football at CMU. The stadium has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years. Some of the features include a new video scoreboard, an artificial turf surface, luxury suites, club seats, press boxes and locker rooms . The stadium also hosts other events such as concerts, high school football games and graduation ceremonies.
