The Dean E. Smith Center is located on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The formal name of this multipurpose venue is the Dean E. Smith Center, but it is also commonly known as "The Dean Dome" and "The Smith Center."

The Dean E. Smith Center is named after former University of North Carolina men's basketball coach, Dean Smith. He coached at the school from 1961 to 1997, and is one of the all time winningest college basketball coaches.

The University of North Carolina men's basketball team is a primary tenant of the Dean E. Smith Center. They play all of their home games at this venue, and have done so since January of 1986. The original seating capacity of this venue was 21,444, but by 2000 this number was increased to 21,750 making it one of the largest arenas in all of college basketball.
