Calgary Wranglers

Born out of the Flames' 2022 decision to bring their farm club back to Alberta, this Flames-branded group plays direct, north-south hockey. The Calgary Wranglers Roster runs on Flames prospects, including forward William Stromgren, who earned AHL Player of the Week honors during the 2025-26 season, plus a group of veteran pros signed over the summer. The AHL Affiliate of the Calgary Flames

Serving as the American Hockey League (AHL) development arm of the Calgary Flames means the lineup shifts all season, with recalls, conditioning stints, and injury replacements moving players between the two clubs. Calgary Flames Standings tell part of that story, since a 34-39-9 finish in 2025-26 that left the NHL club seventh in the Pacific Division put more attention on the prospects coming through. The Rapid City Rush handle the ECHL end of the pipeline.

Calgary Wranglers at Scotiabank Saddledome

Opened in 1983 and holding 19,289 for hockey, the building with the sloping roof hosted Olympic hockey in 1988 and remains one of the sport's most recognizable arenas. The 2026-27 campaign is expected to be among the building's last before its tenants move to a new downtown arena. Check the Scotiabank Saddledome seating chart before picking a spot, since the steep lower bowl puts fans right over the glass and the upper rows give a clean read on breakouts.

Calgary Wranglers Schedule

Seventy-two games make up the AHL regular season, split evenly between home and road dates. Calgary Wranglers games open the first weekend of October 2026, with meetings against the Bakersfield Condors and a heavy Pacific Division slate to follow. Don't miss the holiday theme game against the Abbotsford Canucks at home in December 2026.

Calgary Wranglers Calder Cup Playoffs

Postseason history here is short and pointed. Calgary posted the best Calgary Wranglers Record in the AHL during its first year in 2022-23, then returned to the Calder Cup Playoffs in the seasons that followed, with the Coachella Valley Firebirds ending more than one of those runs. A losing finish in 2025-26 broke that streak, so a younger, deeper group arrives this fall with something to settle.
