What to Expect at A$AP Rocky's Don't Be Dumb Tour
A$AP Rocky’s highly anticipated Don’t Be Dumb tour kicked off this Wednesday, May 27, in Chicago, and fans were immersed in his transformative performance. Following his first album drop in five years, he’ll tour North America through mid-July before heading to Europe.
The cinematic production of the show doesn’t disappoint. The rapper’s set design features helicopters and police spotlights, and his performance isn’t confined to the stage itself. At one point, he heads up to the nosebleeds and performs from a metal detector set, surrounded by a large crew dressed in SWAT gear.

A$AP Rocky Tour Openers
The opener for the Don’t Be Dumb tour at all stops aside from the Governor’s Ball Music Festival performance is Thoto. Thoto is an up-and-coming rapper signed under A$AP Rocky’s creative agency and record label, AWGE. Tommy Revenge is another featured special guest on the tour, performing alongside Rocky for certain songs.
Stage Setup
The stage design and overall setup of this tour are meant to give everyone a great seat. The stage has a catwalk stretching into the floor section where A$AP Rocky can go to be surrounded by the crowd. At times, A$AP Rocky stands on a high platform overlooking the crowd or even hangs off a suspended helicopter. At the beginning of the show, he appears in a metal detector in the high 300s section, just outside of where the audience begins. Fans in the 322 section, to the far right of the stage, were treated to front-row views during this portion of the show.
When to Arrive: Don't Be Dumb Tour
Showtime for the Don’t Be Dumb tour is 7:30 PM each night, unless the venue says otherwise. The Cleveland show was moved back to 8:30 PM. The opener takes the stage at showtime and performs for 45 minutes to an hour. A$AP Rocky took the stage at 9:00 PM for the first show. He has a history of going on late, so audience members weren’t surprised. He also pushed the show slightly past the 11:00 PM venue curfew.
There’s no telling if this late schedule will continue running throughout the show. Make sure to arrive by 8:30 PM for most shows if you’re looking to skip the opener but see the entirety of Rocky’s set. Fans with floor tickets will likely start lining up well before door time to get the best barricade spots.
