Microsoft Theater - Los Angeles, CA

Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, Microsoft Theater is the home of the People’s Choice Awards, BET Awards and American Music Awards. The star-studded stadium first opened as the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in 2002 before it was rebranded in 2015 as Microsoft, which acquired Nokia in 2014. Every year, the venue hosts more than 120 shows encompassing music, dance, comedy, family and award shows, plus televised productions and conventions. The theater has also been the site of multiple movie premieres, including The Hunger Games, Twilight and Michael Jackson’s This Is It.

Microsoft Theater is close to I-10 and Highway 110. Guests who are driving can use one of the available parking lots. For events longer than 3.5 hours, head to the West Garage lot (Lot W, Gate B) for a flat rate, depending on the event. For a two-hours-or-less visit, use East Garage (Lot E). West Garage (Lot W, Gates E and F) is also available for visits less than two hours. Using public transport? Microsoft Theater is within blocks of the Expo, Blue and Red lines.

Be prepared to stay for the duration of the event, as there’s a no re-entry policy at Microsoft. Feel free to bring along nonflash, nonprofessional cameras.

Microsoft Theater is located within a 4-million-square-foot sports, entertainment and residential district adjacent to the STAPLES Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center. It’s easy to find a place to stay (there’s a Ritz-Carlton inside), a bite to eat (it boasts more than 20 restaurants) or a movie to see (the 14-screen Regal Cineplex has plenty of options) without having to travel far. Music lovers should stop by the Grammy Museum, which is also located within the STAPLES Center
