Canadian band Metric encompasses music that covers a broad range of genres, incorporating elements of synth pop, new wave, electronica, and dance-rock. Although considered a Canadian band, its member’s hometowns include Toronto, Montreal, New York, Los Angeles and London. The group emerged in 1998 under the name Mainstream, releasing a self-titled EP. Following the release, the band changed names to Metric.
