Canadian band Metric encompasses music that covers a broad range of genres, incorporating elements of synth pop, new wave, electronica, and dance-rock. Although considered a Canadian band, its member’s hometowns include Toronto, Montreal, New York, Los Angeles and London. The group emerged in 1998 under the name Mainstream, releasing a self-titled EP. Following the release, the band changed names to Metric. Metric have released a total of seven studio album to date, taking home five Juno Awards including two counts of Alternative Album of the Year. They have remarkable maintained their original lineup over the past two decades, including founders Emily Haines and James Shaw with Joules Scott-Key and Joshua Winstead.
