Downtown Greenville's home rink opened in 1998, and locals still call it The Well. The hockey setup seats up to 13,951, and the club drew a franchise-record 184,055 fans across the 2025-26 season for an average of more than 5,100 a night. A school-day game in November 2025 packed in 10,852, the biggest single-game crowd the franchise has ever had. Bon Secours Wellness Arena events also include concerts and family shows, so the building rarely sits quiet.

A full ECHL regular season fills the calendar from October 2026 into April 2027. The in-state rivalry with the South Carolina Stingrays sets the tone again, and the two clubs faced off several times during the 2025-26 season. Postseason history here is compact but genuine. Division titles landed in 2010-11 and 2023-24, and the club has reached the Kelly Cup Playoffs in several recent seasons. The 2025-26 season ended without a spot in the bracket, which sharpens the pursuit of a first Kelly Cup. Costello knows the format from the inside, having won two Kelly Cups as a player in Allen, and that background shapes how this group is assembled for April.
