Swedish melodic death metal rockers Amon Amarth emerged from previous death metal band Scum in the early 1990s. Taking their name from the Sindarin name of Mount Doom (a volcano in J.R.R. The group would go on to drop five additional studio releases before making their mainstream breakthrough with 2008’s Twilight of the Thunder God, which debuted at the number 10 spot on the Swedish album charts and number 50 on the US Billboard 200.
