Alvin and The Chipmunks
Alvin and The Chipmunks is a virtual musical group of animated characters created by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. who comprise the fictional characters of a 1958 novelty record. Three chipmunks are personified in the context of the album as individual characters – the mischievous rascal and star of the group named Alvin, his intellectual counterpart Simon, and their impressionable brother Theodore. The threesome are part of a family headed by father figure David (Dave) Seville, which was Bagdasarian’s stage name. A film adaption was made in 2007 and its sequel in 2009, and the project went on to earn five Grammy awards as well as an American Music Award, Golden Reel Award, and three Kid’s Choice Awards. The adaptation was also nominated for three Emmy awards. Two more film installments were planned for release, one in 2011 and the other scheduled for December of 2015. A TV series titled “ALVINNN!!! And the Chipmunks” premiered on Nickelodeon in August of 2015.
