Richmond Flying Squirrels

Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball is a River City staple, the kind of night where you can hear the dugout chatter and watch a game turn on one well-placed swing. The 2025 club went 56-79 in the Eastern League and finished sixth in the Southwest, but the roster still offered plenty to track, from Victor Bericoto’s 12 homers to Nutzy working the concourse. The Double-A MiLB Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants

Double-A teams are where prospects learn to handle the daily grind, and Richmond is the Giants’ key checkpoint before San Francisco Giants games call for reinforcements. Manager Dennis Pelfrey guided a 2025 group that scored 501 runs and continued to develop bats like Bericoto (49 RBIs) and infielder Diego Velasquez (.256). Rival series with Erie, Altoona, Akron, Harrisburg, and Chesapeake can change the mood fast, because this league rewards clubs that stack good at-bats for weeks, not days.

Launching Excitement at CarMax Park

CarMax Park seating chart planning matters for 2026, because the Flying Squirrels are set to move into their new Diamond District home with an opening date scheduled for April 7, 2026. Built next to The Diamond, the team's previous home, CarMax Park is designed as a modern, multi-use venue and is expected to seat approximately 6,000 for baseball, with expanded event capacity for concerts and other larger events. For fans, that means cleaner sightlines, fresh amenities, and a new backdrop for the same Richmond routines.

Richmond Flying Squirrels Eastern League Championship

Eastern League standings often come down to timing because the season is split into halves, and only the half-winners earn playoff spots. In 2025, Richmond’s overall record left the club chasing the pace set by contenders across the circuit, a reminder that depth matters as much as a hot prospect. That context is what makes early summer series feel important, especially when the bullpen is asked to protect slim leads, and every run is earned the hard way.
