Located in the Sterling Heights suburb amid the 120-acre Freedom Hill County Park, this outdoor venue delivers an impressive seasonal schedule brimming with top acts from around the music world.

It’s all about the music at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre. With national acts ranging from Mary J. Blige to Santana to Tom Jones gracing its stage, the 7,200-capacity venue provides an intimate experience for everyone in attendance. The amphitheater has undergone a number of improvements over the years, including more than $2 million in upgrades to its sound and lighting systems in 2012.

Located on Metropolitan Parkway (also known as 16 Mile), the amphitheater is easily accessible from I-75, I-94, I-696 or M-59. Accommodations are plentiful in the area, and there are a variety of restaurants to satisfy any taste within a short drive. Count on family fun, too, with parks, museums, and other activities in the vicinity. Arrive early to events to claim one of the 4,000 onsite parking spots. The parking lot opens at 5:30 pm for evening shows and two hours before the start of matinees.

Tailgating and picnics are encouraged at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre. Bring a cooler, but leave the alcohol at home since it’s prohibited in the parking lot. Concessions are available to purchase at all performances. Concerts take place rain or shine, so bring a rain jacket if necessary. Make sure to leave large umbrellas at home, though, as these are prohibited by the venue. Other items that won’t be allowed through venue security include outside food and drink, backpacks, video and audio recording equipment, and laser pointers.
