Janelle Monae is a singer, songwriter and rapper who emerged onto the music scene with her first unofficial studio album, The Audition, in 2003, followed by the conceptual EP titled Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase) in 2007. The funk, R&B and psychedelic soul artist released a sequel to Metropolis titled The ArchAndroid in 2010 which put her into the spotlight. It earned her critical acclaim and peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200. Monae was featured on the hit single "We Are Young" by Fun, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 at number one. Her second studio album, The Electric Lady, was also released to rave reviews in 2013, bolstering Monae's rise to success. Her most recent album, Dirty Computer, yielded singles like "Make Me Feel" and "Pynk." Throughout her career, Monae has earned six Grammy Award nominations.
