Haim is a rock group consisting of three sisters, Este, Danielle and Alana Haim, who got their start in music as children. Growing up they were influenced by their musician parents, who helped guide them in singing and playing various instruments, ultimately forming a family cover band. As they grew older the sisters’ interests in genres widened to incorporate pop and contemporary R&B into their music, and in 2007 they decided to form their own band. However, after being discovered by Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley, Danielle went solo for some time, playing guitar for Rilo Kiley and The Strokes’ Jerry Casablancas’ side band. While she enjoyed her time out on her own, she decided she’d be happiest playing alongside her sisters, and they released their EP, Forever, in 2012. Their debut studio album, Days Are Gone, dropped in 2013 and debuted at the number six spot on the US Billboard 200, and number one on the UK Albums Chart. Something To Tell You, their second studio album, hit shelves in 2017, debuting at number seven in the US and number two in the UK. Haim’s musical style has been compared to that of Fleetwood Mac, although they have said in interviews they are more influenced by recent music. They have rejected the girl band label and prefer to be recognized for their talents as musicians and for their individual merits.
