Citi Field - Flushing, NY

If Citi Field reminds you of a bridge, you’re not imagining things—the ballpark’s arched design was inspired by bridges. For a truly unique game-day experience, you can even watch the action from Shea Bridge, which is located over the bullpens in right-center field. Home of the MLB’s New York Mets in 2009, the park also features the Mets Hall of Fame on the first-base side of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, which forms the main entrance.

Besides baseball, Citi Field has hosted events including international soccer matches, college lacrosse and baseball, professional wrestling and cricket games. Several big names in the music industry have performed at the field, including Paul McCartney, Beyoncé and Billy Joel.

Visitors often praise the park for its concessions. Besides the traditional ballpark food you’ll find throughout the park, the Taste of the City food court sits behind center field and offers a diverse array of New York–style cuisine. The World’s Fare Market is behind right field and features even more flavors from around the globe. Guests are permitted to bring in a factory-sealed 20-ounce bottle of water or juice box. Hard-sided containers, professional video or recording equipment, and noisemakers are prohibited.

The ballpark is located in the Queens borough of New York City and, while it has a Flushing area code, it’s not exactly located in Flushing proper. To get there, take the IRT Flushing line to Mets-Willets Point Station or catch a free water taxi to the World’s Fair Marina, which is very close to the park, from the Pier 11/Wall St. and the East 34th St. ferry landings. Drivers will find parking available at the stadium, and parking permits can be purchased in advance.
