Fifty years is a long run for a suburban orchestra, and 2026-27 marks the Carmel Symphony Orchestra's fiftieth season. The ensemble is based in Carmel, Indiana, just north of Indianapolis. David Commanday returns to the music director chair for the anniversary year, adding it to his work with the Heartland Festival Orchestra in Peoria and the orchestral program at Eastern Illinois University. Titled Horizons to Heroes, the anniversary season is anchored at The Payne & Mencias Palladium in Carmel. It opens October 10, 2026 and closes April 24, 2027, across four classical programs. The orchestra also performs outside the classical series, with those engagements ticketed separately. The Palladium sits inside the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts, where the orchestra holds a resident company slot.
