Who are The 1975?

The 1975 was formed by a group of high school friends in 2002. The band initially started out as merely a cover band, experimenting with styles and writing their own original material over time. The result was a trademark style that’s been described as falling somewhere between “hooky dance-rock and adult contemporary sophistication.” In 2013, The 1975 released their self-titled debut album, showcasing their artsy-pop aesthetic and frontman Matt Healy’s distinct vocal style. The album was a major success, topping the charts on the strength of their massive hit single “Sex,” launching the band to international stardom. I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It followed in 2017, featuring a more ambitious R&B influenced sound. The album brought continued success to the band, hitting the number one spot in both the UK and US. That same year, The 1975 took home the Brit Award for Best British Group, cementing their status as indie rock sensations. Their third studio album, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, arrived in 2018, earning universal praise from critics.
