Ángela Aguilar’s future in the music industry was written in the stars thanks to a long line of family musicians known as “La Dinastía Aguilar” (The Aguilar Dynasty). Aguilar has frequently accompanied her famed Mexican musician and actor father Pepe Aguilar her whole life, joining him on tours throughout Latin America alongside her brother Leonardo. The young vocalist released her debut project Nueva Tradición at just nine years old in 2012. Her first solo album, Primero Soy Mexicana, followed in March 2018, featuring guest appearances by prominent musicians like Lucha Villa, Rocio Durcal, and her grandmother, Flor Silvestre. At just 14 years old, Aguilar was nominated for Best New Artist at the 19th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in the fall of 2018. In December 2018, Primero Soy Mexicana earned a Grammy nomination for Best Regional Mexican Music Album. It seems the sky’s the limit for this rising star, who, with an impressive track record and two Grammy noms under her belt, is only in her early teens.
