The historic Philadelphia Metropolitan Opera House (MOH) has been given a breath of new life and will reopen as a live concert venue by the end of the year. The MOH has been used for several different purposes since opening in 1908, first as an opera house then as a movie theater, ballroom and even a church. Following years of neglect, it fell into serious disrepair and deterioration until a local church saved the building from demolition in 1995. Their efforts helped to stabilize the building, paving the way for the latest restoration endeavor which began in 2017. The state-of-the-art, 3,500-capacity venue reopened for business in December 2018.
