The National Finals Rodeo, known as the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, is the official championship rodeo in the U.S. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) hosts the event every year in the first ten days of December. The rodeo takes place at the Thomas & Mack Center on the University of Nevada campus in Las Vegas. It is aired live on the CBS Sports Network alongside Cowboy Christmas, a cowboy gift show.
The NFR marks the end of the PRCA season. World championship titles are given to participants who earn the most money in their event throughout the year. The highest earning competitor achieves the title of PRCA World All-Around Champion. Each day throughout the NFR, a competition or “go-round” is held with its own prizes. The amount of prize money given depends on the total prize pool.
The NFR was first held in 1959 in Dallas and is heading into its 59th year.
