Meet Father John Misty
Joshua Tillman, also known as Father John Misty and J. Tillman, is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, drummer and record producer. Tillman showed an interest in music from a very young age, first learning to play the drums and later the guitar at 12 years old. He moved to Seattle after graduating from college and worked in a bakery, allowing him time to record songs at night before his early morning shift. He created his demo tape during this time and was discovered by musician Damien Jurado who invited him to open at his shows, giving him exposure as a new artist and allowing him to share his demo with fans. Tillman’s career took off instantly, achieving mainstream success as a solo artist as well as a drummer in the band Fleet Foxes. His solo career yielded the release of 12 studio albums, the latest of which titled God’s Favorite Customer dropped in June 2018 and has received “universal acclaim.”
