Cavetown is the indie-pop project of Cambridge-based teen musician Robin Skinner. Cavetown rose to popularity in the mid-2010's thanks to a viral YouTube channel, where he covered popular songs and played original material on the ukulele. By 2018, Cavetown had created a name for himself as an established singer/songwriter with a loyal online following, with several independently released albums including his debut hit, Lemon Boy. The Animal Kingdom project followed shortly after the release of Lemon Boy, releasing five split singles in 2019 – "Sandy," "Comet," "Ash," "Shells," and "Jackson" – each of which were later compiled onto a mixtape.
