A rotating cast of musicians picks one classic album, plays it start to finish note for note, then comes back after intermission with a set of the same artist's other songs. That has been the model since J. Willoughby started the group in Birmingham in 2009 with a recreation of the Beatles' Abbey Road. The catalog has since run from Dark Side of the Moon to Back in Black, with different records cycling through the schedule each season. Black Jacket Symphony Tour Dates

Albums rotate through the Black Jacket Symphony tour rather than the other way around, so one venue can draw two completely different shows. Cheyenne Civic Center in Wyoming is the case in point: Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet arrives November 5, 2026, and Michael Jackson's Thriller follows on March 21, 2027, with Romanian vocalist Bogdan Ioan fronting that one. Def Leppard's Hysteria carries the fall of 2026 through theaters and performing arts centers across the South and the Atlantic coast. The wider 2026-27 routing carries the same rotating albums through theaters and performing arts centers well beyond the Southeast.

Black Jacket Symphony Setlist and Concert Info

At Lexington Opera House, the group ran Slippery When Wet in album order, opening on "Let It Rock" and working through "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Livin' on a Prayer," "Wanted Dead or Alive," and "Never Say Goodbye" without breaking sequence. The second set then stepped outside the record, starting on "Runaway." The show itself ran about two hours and ten minutes, intermission included. The pitch is accuracy rather than impersonation, which is why the lineup shifts with the album rather than staying fixed.

Hearing a record you know by heart played correctly, in order, by people who rehearsed it that way is a narrower promise than most concerts make, and easier to judge. Either the harmonies land or they do not. Seventeen years in, the group is still filling the same theaters with the same format. Browse Black Jacket Symphony tickets at Event Tickets Center.
