Kinnick Stadium is located in Iowa City, Iowa, and serves as the home field for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes football team. This venue opened for business in 1929, and has been hosting college football games ever since. From 1929 to 1972 this venue was known as Hawkeye Stadium. Then in 1972 it was renamed Kinnick Stadium after Nile Kinnick; the only Hawkeye to ever win the Heisman Trophy.
The seating capacity at Kinnick Stadium is 70,585. This is large enough to make for a great fan atmosphere, while also ensuring that every seat has a great view of the field. Many fans feel that Kinnick Stadium is one of the top venues in the country as far as watching a game is concerned.
From 2004 to 2006, an $86.8 million renovation project took place at Kinnick Stadium. During this project several updates took place. Just a few of them include a new scoreboard and sound system, a new press box, more concession stands, and much more.
As you can see, Kinnick Stadium has a lot to offer. When it comes to the best stadiums in the Big Ten Conference, Kinnick Stadium is always at the top of the list.
