Fabulous Fox Theatre - Atlanta, GA
Fox Theatre is one of the most ornate movie palaces remaining in the country and continues to draw in theatergoers who are dazzled by its opulence and grandeur. The League of Historic American Theatres awarded Fox Theatre as the “Outstanding Historic Theatre of the Year” in 2011 and was recently recognized by Rolling Stone magazine as one of “The Best Big Rooms in America.”
Fox Theatre opened on Christmas Day in 1929 with the movie Steamboat Willie, Disney’s first cartoon starring Mickey Mouse. Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Liberace, Jason Mraz and Diana Ross are among the world-class performers who have graced its stage. Popular musicals such as A Chorus Line, Phantom of the Opera and Mamma Mia! have all been performed at the theater. Fabulous Fox is also the home of the Atlanta Ballet, one of the country’s leading professional dance companies.
There are a number of private parking garages and lots within the vicinity of the theater, most of which accept credit card payment. The Rapid Rail to North Avenue Station is two blocks from the theater and is also the transfer point for several bus routes. There are many restaurants just steps away from the theater where patrons can grab a bite to eat before or after a show.
