All-girl pop trio Perfume first emerged in 2001 from Hiroshima, Japan, with its members only 11 and 12 years old at the time. Characterized by their cute, fan-friendly image and bright music that echoes elements of ‘80s Japanese techno-pop, Perfume began their rise to stardom in 2003 when they met with a producer and released a series of singles. It was not until 2008, though, that their mainstream breakthrough would finally come on the success of their single “Polyrhythm.” In the years since, Perfume has reached international success, earning several awards and releasing six studio albums.
