Mohegan Sun is an entertainment complex built by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut in 1996. The expansive site includes the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena as well as shopping, dining, hotel accommodations, three casinos, a planetarium dome, two spas and two additional entertainment venues. Past Mohegan Sun concerts have included the likes of Elton John, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Bon Jovi, as well as popular events such as WWE, stand-up comedy, championship boxing, NCAA Division 1 and pro basketball. The arena is also the home base for the New England Black Wolves lacrosse team.
Mohegan Sun is about 45 minutes from Providence, Rhode Island, and New Haven, Connecticut, and only 90 minutes from Boston. New York City is only two hours away. It’s easily accessible via I-95 to I-395, off Exit 9. Parking is a cinch with the facility’s 13,000-plus guest parking spaces located conveniently onsite.
Mohegan Sun is a full-on resort, so visitors will find everything they need onsite, including a range of dining options, hotel accommodations and shopping for all budgets. From casual and fine dining to bars and nightclubs, it’s all there. For those who want to soak in some flavor of the area outside of the complex, the Connecticut Wine Trail is about 45 minutes away and the Mystic Aquarium less than half an hour away.
