Jillian “Jill” Scott is an American poet, singer, songwriter and actress from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Scott’s career began as a spoken word artist, when she would perform readings of her own poetry at local clubs and bars. After being discovered by Questlove of the musical group the Roots, she went on to co-write a Grammy-winning track with the group and subsequently set out on her own solo career. Her debut album Who Is Jill Scott? Word and Sounds Vol. 1 went platinum, with both follow up albums achieving gold status. Scott’s distinct singing style infuses styles of jazz, opera, R&B, spoken word and hip hop. Her unique sound has won her several music awards including three Grammys. She is currently touring the U.S. for her Live In The Moment Tour.
