Delain is a Dutch symphonic metal group that formed in 2002 after Martijn Westerholt was forced from his position as keyboardist in the Dutch goth rock group Within Temptation due to chronic illness. After working to get his health up to par, Westerholt began writing music, bringing together a host of other well-known metal artists to create a new project he called Delain. Since formation, the group has released a total of five studio albums, including their third critically acclaimed album We Are the Others in 2012. Delain’s name comes from the Kingdom of Delain in Stephen King’s novel, The Eyes of the Dragon.
