Toronto-based band Sloan emerged in 1991, combining elements of alt-rock with the melodies of classic power pop. The band, made up of four talented songwriters, would become one of Canada's most celebrated bands of the 1990s, maintaining popularity and significance well into the 2010s. Despite struggling to find similar success stateside, the group eventually established a loyal cult following in the US, with their Juno-winning 1996 album One Chord to Another becoming a major hit on both sides of the border. Sloan has released a total of 12 full-length albums and more than 30 singles. The band is known for their sharing of songwriting and lead vocals from each member and their unaltered line-up throughout their career.
