Industrial rock outfit Mortiis formed in 1993 by frontman HÃ¥vard Ellefsen, who is also known as the namesake of the group. Mortiis began as a solo project for Ellefsen as a means to convey a story. Over time, though, the aspect was lost, and he recruited members to slowly form a band. The band boasts a Wiking metal sound that has evolved over eras, incorporating several sub-genres and narratives. In total, they have released 13 studio albums.
