John Michael Montgomery was interested in music at an early age, encouraged by his musician father who taught him his first chords on guitar. He joined the family band, first playing guitar and then progressing to lead vocals before venturing out on his own to pursue a solo career in 1992. He was discovered by Atlantic Records shortly thereafter and was subsequently signed. Montgomery has released a total of 10 studio albums, the first three of which are all certified multi-platinum. He has had more than 30 singles on the Billboard country charts, with seven of those tracks reaching the number one spot.
