America’s Got Talent is an American television series that revolves around a seasonal talent search open to acts of all ages, showcasing the hottest acts and the most unique performers from across the country competing for America’s vote. Performances include a colorful array of acts including singers, dancers, comedians and magicians, as well as the occasional impressionists, ventriloquists, jugglers and contortionists, all hopeful and rising stars. The cast consists of a celebrity host/hostess, and a panel of four celebrity judges that decide which contestants will advance to the final round. The viewers determine which act takes the $1 million prize and who inevitably wins the hearts of Americans. A season win or even an appearance can easily result in a launched career, can turn amateurs into professionals and typically creates an abundance of opportunities for otherwise unknown performers.
