The Washington Capitals compete in the Southeast Division of the National Hockey League. They were founded in 1974, and have been located in the nation’s capital ever since. Over the years the Capitals organization has gained a lot of respect from other teams, fans, and many more. They have done this through a high level of dedication to doing things right day in and day out.

The Capitals play their home games at the Capital One Arena, and have done so since 1997. This venue is one of the favorites among fans. Not only does it offer great sightlines of the ice, but the concessions are also among the best in the NHL. Does it get any better than that?

Since opening its doors in December 1997, The Capital One Arena has played host to thousands of sporting events, concerts, and shows. With so much traffic coming in and out of this arena on a regular basis it is easy to see why so many people regard it as one of the best venues in the eastern part of the country.

The Capital One Arena currently has three primary tenants. They include the Washington Wizards of the NBA, the Washington Mystics of the WNBA, and the Washington Capitals of the NHL. Additionally, the Georgetown University men's basketball team also uses the Capital One Arena for the majority of their home games. As you can imagine, these basketball and hockey games alone keep this arena busy for a very good part of the year.

The capacity of the Capital One Arena is approximately 20,173 fans for basketball games, and 18,277 for hockey. When other events such as concerts and special shows come to town the capacity is right around 20,000.
