The Firestone Country Club is located in Akron, Ohio, and is a private club that is only open to members. Although many people do not feel that Ohio offers great golf, the fact of the matter is that Firestone Country Club does not take a backseat to any other club. Made up of three courses, the Firestone Country Club has quite a bit to offer. This holds true for members, golfers who play tournaments at the club, and of course spectators.
Many tournaments have taken place at Firestone Country Club over the years, and some of them still stop by on a regular basis. They include the World Golf Championships, the American Golf Classic, and many more. Additionally, the University of Akron also uses the Firestone Country Club for their home course.
The three golf courses at Firestone Country Club are known as the North, South, and West. The first to open for business was the South course in 1929. The North course opened 40 years later in 1969, with the West rounding out the group in 1989. No matter what course is being played, there is no denying that any golfer is going to be challenged.
All three courses at the Firestone Country Club offer a great atmosphere for both golfers and spectators. If you ever have the chance to play one of the courses or watch a tournament live, you owe it to yourself to take advantage.
