Los Angeles based rapper Blueface surfaced in 2018, becoming a viral internet meme and taking the music world by storm with his hit single “Thotiana.” Born Jonathan Porter in 1997, Blueface grew up in the LA area before relocating to North Carolina’s Fayetteville State University on a football scholarship, eventually dropping out and trading in his dreams of becoming a football star for making it big in the music industry. With clever lyricism and asymmetrical flow, Blueface developed a unique rapping style that was all his own, making his first big breakthrough with the track “DeadLocs” in early 2018. Viral hit “Thotiana” followed just a few short weeks later, leading to tours of high schools and meeting fans in area malls. The grassroots approach worked in his favor, building a devoted fanbase and quickly issuing new music to keep the fans interested.
