You read that right – nearly a year after its release, Kelly Clarkson is finally taking her eighth album on the road for an all new tour in 2019!
The 28-date “Meaning Of Life Tour” will kick off on January 24th with a show in Oakland, CA before taking Clarkson to a slew of cities across the US. Stops include performances in Kansas City, Chicago, Dallas, Boston, and Nashville before a final show in Greenville, SC wraps things up on March 30th.
The upcoming run of shows marks the first major concert series for Clarkson in almost four years (the last being 2015’s “Piece by Piece Tour”). Country crooner Kelsea Ballerini and The Voice Season 14 winner Brynn Cartelli will join her on the road as opening acts.
Clarkson shared the exciting news on her Instagram page with a video of the three singing the title track off her latest album.
"Meaning of Life is the album I always wanted to make and I am so excited to finally be able to tour it!" she said in a statement. "Even while recording it, I couldn't wait for people to experience the music live, to not only hear it, but feel it. It has taken almost a year of planning, and I can't wait to see y'all on the road!"
Meaning Of Life was released to critical acclaim in October 2017. It served as Clarkson’s first venture into R&B and soul music, a dramatic shift from the pop/rock sound she’d established over the course of her 16-year career. Meaning Of Life features the chart-topping single “Love So Soft,” which earned Clarkson a Grammy nomination at the 60th Grammy Awards.
Who Is Kelly Clarkson?
With 16 years of chart-topping albums, prestigious awards, and sold out arenas, it’s easy to forget where it all began for global pop superstar Kelly Clarkson. Emerging in 2002 as the first-ever winner of American Idol, Clarkson skyrocketed to stardom and her success only seems to continue to grow with time. Her debut single “A Moment Like This” topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming country music’s best-selling single of 2002. Clarkson’s debut album Thankful dropped in 2003, debuting atop the Billboard 200 and was followed by Breakaway in 2004, for which she earned her first two Grammy Awards. In the years since, she has released six more albums, selling 45 million singles and 25 million albums worldwide. Clarkson made history when she became the first artist ever to top each of Billboard’s pop, adult contemporary, adult pop, country and dance charts. With three Grammys, four American Music Awards, and two Academy of Country Music Awards under her belt, there’s no doubt that Clarkson is one of pop music’s greatest singers of all time.
