Glenn Danzig has announced he will be bringing his namesake band on the road for a seven-show tour, celebrating their 30-year anniversary and Halloween 2018!
The mini-tour will kick off with an October 24 performance in Portland, Oregon. The band will hop around the west coast for the remainder of the week, stopping in cities like Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Albuquerque before wrapping with a “Halloween bash” on November 3 in Irvine, California.
The rocker also announced that the new string of shows will be the final live dates to see Danzig for a while as he will be working on other projects, the details of which will be shared at a later date.
Who Is Danzig?
Danzig was formed in 1987 as a musical outlet for lead singer and songwriter, Glenn Danzig. Following his time with horror-punk bands The Misfits and Samhain, Glenn Danzig gathered fellow musicians and former bandmates to create Danzig. The newly formed group provided him with the opportunity to explore the darker side of music more deeply, something he was unable to do in his previous projects.
Danzig was signed almost immediately, going on to release several albums including Danzig (1988), Danzig II: Lucifuge (1990), and Danzig III: How the Gods Kill (1992). The band’s mainstream breakthrough came in 1993 when a live video for “Mother,” a track originally released on their debut album, became a smash hit on MTV, causing the song to chart as a single and nearly breaking the Billboard Top 40.
In the years since, Danzig has undergone several line-up changes and released multiple studio albums. Their most recent album, Black Laden Crown, dropped in May 2017.
August 2018 will see the release of Hidden Lyrics Of The Left Hand Volume II, a follow-up to the 2010’s Hidden Lyrics Of The Left Hand which contained unreleased song lyrics combined with illustrations by Simon Bisley. Volume II will be available on stands in local comic book stores.
