98 Degrees (stylized as 98°) was formed in Timmons, Los Angeles, although all its members are from Ohio. Its members consists of four vocalists: brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons. 98 degrees, named after the natural body temperature of a human being, is unique in that they formed independently before they were picked up by a record label, rather than being assembled by a producer or record company. Their debut single, “Invisible Man,” reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, achieving gold-record status. After building popularity with their appearance in the animated Disney movie Mulan, and singing True to Your Heart, a duet with labelmate Stevie Wonder, their album 98 Degrees and Rising went quadruple platinum in 1998. It produced hits like “Because of You” and “The Hardest Thing.” The group has eight top 40 singles under its belt and has sold over 10 million records worldwide.
