Georgia-based rapper Gunna launched his career with the help of fellow rapper and Grammy winning hip-hop artist Young Thug in 2016. The two quickly struck up a friendship based on a mutual love for music, and before long, Gunna was a regular in the recording studio. His first break came after hopping on Young Thug’s track “Floyd Mayweather,” lending his vocals alongside rap sensations Gucci Mane and Travis Scott. The feature was enough to launch Gunna to fame, and before long he was signed. Gunna released his debut mixtape Drip Season in 2016, followed by Drip Season 2 in the summer of 2017. While working towards his first full-length release, he dropped a third mixtape, Drip Season 3 in 2018, featuring guest appearances by the likes of Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, and Metro Boomin. Gunna has cited Cam’ron and Outkast as inspirations (among others), having grown up listening to their music.
