Commonwealth Stadium is located in Lexington, Kentucky, and is owned by the University of Kentucky. Although this venue has been around since 1973, it still has quite a bit to offer fans and players. Commonwealth Stadium replaced the former Stoll Field/McLean Stadium.
Believe it or not, Commonwealth Stadium is one of the newer football venues in the Southeastern Conference. The University of Kentucky football team plays its home games at Commonwealth Stadium, and this has been the case since the stadium opened more than 30 years ago.
In 1999, Commonwealth Stadium underwent a major renovation project. Both ends of the stadium were closed in, and 40 suites were built to accommodate more fans. The current seating capacity of Commonwealth Stadium is 67,530.
Although Commonwealth Stadium is far from new, its recent renovation did wonders as far as bringing it up to date. And when compared to other football stadiums in the Southeastern Conference, Commonwealth Stadium does not seem nearly as outdated!
