The Columbus Blue Jackets compete in the Central Division of the National Hockey League. Although they have only been around since 2000, they have quickly become one of the most well liked teams in the league. This is evident by the number of fans who have quickly begun to follow the franchise in such a short period of time.
The Blue Jackets play their home games at Nationwide Arena. This is one of the newer venues in the league, and has gone a long way in drawing thousands of fans to each home game over the years. If you are a Blue Jackets fan you should be proud of the arena that you and your team can call home!
Many great players have worn the Blue Jackets jersey since the team started playing a few years ago. Some of the best include Rick Nash, David Vyborny, and Nikolai Zherdev among many others.
As you can see, the Blue Jackets are still a very young franchise. As the years go by they will have the chance to sign new players, and begin to build a team that will compete for the division title year in and year out.
Nationwide Arena is an indoor, multipurpose venue located in Columbus, Ohio. Since opening in 2000 this arena has been known as one of the best in the United States. Not only does it attract many top notch sporting events month in and month out, but it also plays host of many concerts, shows, and special events on a regular basis. This makes Nationwide Arena a true sports and entertainment complex.
There are three tenants that call Nationwide Arena home. They include the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL, the Columbus Destroyers of the AFL, and the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets of the USHL. In the past, the Columbus Landsharks of the NLL also played regular games at Nationwide Arena.
Although Nationwide Arena hosts more hockey games than any other events, this does not mean that the venue is one dimensional. Several professional wrestling events have taken place at this arena, and the 2007 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled to make a stop in Columbus as well. And this does not even take into consideration all of the concerts that have played out at the Nationwide Arena. These concerts include some of the biggest acts in the entertainment world.
For hockey games Nationwide Arena has a seating capacity of 18,136. Like most arenas, this number increases for basketball games where it can hold 19,350 fans. While this is not the largest capacity among arenas in this part of the country, it is nothing to be ashamed of.
Modern features and plenty of events make Nationwide Arena a top notch venue. It is safe to say that this is only going to become more and more noticeable over the next few years. The City of Columbus really has something to be proud of in Nationwide Arena.
