La Nouba is a Cirque du Soleil show, which, like most Cirque du Soleil shows, is a circus-like performance featuring acrobats, gymnasts, and other skilled performers. Its title derives from the French phrase faire la nouba, meaning "to party" or "to live it up". La Nouba is in permanent residence in a custom-built, freestanding theater at Downtown Disney's West Side at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
La Nouba’s music is performed live by six musicians and two singers. Composed by Benoît Jutras and directed by performer Benoit Glazer (incidentally, there is a third "Benoit", violinist Benoit Lajeunesse), the music is at times sorrowful, sometimes upbeat and often mysterious. Jazz, hip-hop, Klezmer, opera, and other styles are meshed together in much of the show. The performers are partially hidden in towers on either side of the stage. Their playing is perfectly coordinated to the action on stage.
