Award-winning artist k. d. lang has plenty to look forward this week. The singer-songwriter just kicked off the US leg of her “Ingénue Redux Tour” and is set to receive the prestigious Trailblazer Award on September 12th!

The US portion of the Ingénue Redux Tour launched on September 7th with a show in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Lang went on to perform two more shows in The Sunshine State before heading for Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, where she will be presented with the prestigious Trailblazer Award on September 12th.

Lang is slotted to perform the next show on her tour at the historic venue the following Saturday, 9/16 before setting out for Texas, where she will wrap up the nine-date trek with a final performance in Houston on 9/24.

The "Ingénue Redux Tour," which initially kicked off last spring, celebrates the 25th anniversary of her landmark, platinum-selling album, Ingénue. The album launched Lang into international fame, featuring a sound that leaned more towards a cabaret feel rather than the country/folk genres she had teetered between for years before. The tour features Lang performing her Grammy-winning album live and in its entirety.

Who Is k.d. lang?

Pop/country artist k.d. lang first stepped onto the music scene in 1981 after becoming fascinated with the life and music of Patsy Cline. Pursuing a professional career that would mimic Clines, she formed a country band, garnering massive attention from several US labels. The album produced the hit song “Constant Craving,” and earned Lang the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Throughout the course of her career, Lang has released a total of seven albums, taking home both Grammy and Juno Awards for her songwriting and performances. She has collaborated with several big-ticket names, including Elton John and Tony Bennett.

Lang is known for being an outspoken supporter of gay rights and animal rights. As a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism, she is also an activist supporter of Tibetan human rights. Aside from her wildly successful music career, Lang has also lent her talents to the world of acting. She has appeared on TV shows including How I Met Your Mother and Portlandia as well as appearing on stage, most recently replacing Fantasia Barrino in the Broadway show After Midnight.
