Insider Notes
Insider Note on Getting to the Stadium
Since the MB Superdome is close to the New Orleans downtown business district, traffic on event day can be challenging. Walking to the Superdome from anywhere in the Quarter, CDB or Warehouse District is relatively easy. There are no hills or inclines until you reach the venue where there are fairly steep stairs and a steep main ramp. Try to walk on main streets and avoid back streets or alleys.
Make sure you take the NFL’s “All Clear” bag policy seriously, it will be enforced at the Superdome. Your bag must be clear vinyl (12” x 12” x 6”). A purse of clutch must be no larger than 4.5” x 6.5.”
If you have a medical need to carry a larger bag, there is a special line for this. You will be subjected to a search, but this line is usually not long. If you are going to a New Orleans Saint’s game, it is one of the most exciting venues to experience as fan participation is enthusiastic. However, be prepared to stand for most of the game if you are sitting in lower level. Among the best seats to view a game are Upper bowl (500 section of terrace). This has been reported to be better than upper part of Plaza. 500s between the goal lines are some of the best value seats in the Dome. Top rows of the lower end zone are reported to be among the least desirable for viewing. Also, be aware that although the seats are wider and more comfortable than some of the newer stadiums, there are no cup holders. for your beverages – you must hold onto your drink or put it on the ground.
Insider Note on Beverages
Hurricane stands! They are not cheap, but certainly a part of the New Orleans experience. We don’t recommend drinking many.
