Meet Lorde
Lorde is an award-winning singer and songwriter from New Zealand who took an interest in performing at an early age. Known for her evocative, sultry voice and powerful lyrics, by the age of 16 she had released her first extended play, The Love Club, which was regarded highly by critics and reached number two in New Zealand and Australia charts. Lorde’s debut single “Royals” was an international hit that shot her into stardom, cementing the pop singer as the youngest solo artist to have a number one single on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The single would go on to earn her two Grammy Awards. Her first album, Pure Heroine, topped the charts with hit singles such as “Tennis Court” and “Team.” Lorde has cited the unusual vocals of Grimes and Sleigh Bells as her main influences, as well as Nicki Manaj and Kendrick Lamar’s sassy tones. She released her sophomore album Melodrama in 2017, receiving widespread acclaim, and is currently on her Melodrama World Tour in support of the album.
