Who are The Lumineers?
Folk rock band The Lumineers formed in 2005 when members Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites began writing and performing together in Ramsey, New Jersey. The two added cellist/vocalist Neyla Pekarek in 2010, going on to release their breakthrough hit single “Ho Hey” two years later. The track skyrocketed to the top of the charts, remaining at the number one spot on the Billboard Rock Songs chart for 18 non-consecutive weeks, topping a handful of other charts and reaching number three on the Hot 100. The Lumineers’ early successes cemented the bands status as one of the most popular folk rock/Americana artists during the revival of those genres. In 2012 they released their self-titled debut album, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 and achieving a triple platinum status in the US and Canada (including platinum certifications in the UK and Ireland, and gold in Australia). Cleopatra arrived a few years later in 2016, debuting at the number one spot and securing another platinum certification in the US. In 2018, Pekarek parted ways with the band. Their third studio album, III, is due out in September 2019.
