Good news Shawn Mendes fans – the “In My Blood” singer has just added several new stops to the US leg of his massive world tour, and he’s bringing a special friend with him along the way!
“Shawn Mendes: The Tour” launches March 7 in Amsterdam and will see Mendes hit stages across Europe before returning to North America to complete an impressive 49-city trek through the US and Canada, starting June 12 in Portland, OR. The pop sensation announced the addition of 16 new cities to his list of stops earlier this week, including Milwaukee, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, and Philadelphia.
Fellow Canadian chart-topper Alessia Cara will be joining Mendes as a special guest on all North American dates.
“Shawn Mendes: The Tour” will be in support of the singer’s latest release, a self-titled Grammy-nominated album that hit shelves in May 2018. The album debuted at the number one spot in both the US and Canada and has yielded several hit singles including “In My Blood,” which was nominated for Song of the Year at the 61st Grammy Awards, and the platinum-certified “Lost In Japan.”
Who Is Shawn Mendes?
Viral internet sensation turned chart-topping popstar Shawn Mendes emerged in 2013, quickly capturing the attention of fans across the world through social media. Mendes skyrocketed to success seemingly overnight, officially signing to a label in 2014 at just 14 years old. His first single, “Life of the Party” debuted later that same year, landing within the Top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100, making Mendes the youngest artist to achieve such a feat.
The rising star would go on to release his debut studio album Handwritten just one year later, featuring the chart-topping single “Stitches” (number one in the UK and Top 10 in the US and Canada). Illuminated followed in 2016, producing massive hits “Treat You Better and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” both of which reached the Top 10 on international charts. His self-titled third album arrived in May 2018, earning the singer two Grammy nominations, one for Best Vocal Pop Album and the other for Song of the Year for the hit single “In My Blood.”
At just 20 years old, Mendes has headlined three world tours, earned three Juno Awards, two Grammy nominations, and has been named of one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2018. The singer continues to push past the boundaries with his powerhouse vocals, swift guitar skills, and contemporary lyricism, creating one record-breaking release after another.
